David Ntephe

About

David Ntephe is a painter, studying visual arts at Maryland Institute College of Art. His work started out formalist approach, focusing on line, color and pattern to define subjects– often the human figure or biological structures to portray in 'semi-self portraits'.

Lately he has been developing more thematic-based works, with his currently untitled series-in-progress, focusing on using layers of flat shapes with flat colors to insert violent, often politically or racially charged imagery against the backdrop of white, upper middle-class suburbia. He is also looking to explore more autobiographical content as well.

His art career began at an early age with focus on sculpture, cartoon, graphic design and mixed media. David launched his young adult career in mixed media and painting while attending Orange County School of the Arts. His hobbies include politics, cooking and traveling.
